Ian Alderson started his long career at the age of 16 in landscaping and groundworks, working on contracts big and small he then built a garden supplies business from scratch with his father. Not content with just selling, Ian developed garden storage products using trial, error and many prototypes. Ian then turned his attention to producing outdoor buildings, constructed primarily using timber frames.
By 2014, Ian had developed a successful garden storage manufacturing business, sited on land which was fields prior to 2005.
Offices also built on the site by Ian and his father were rented out and Ian started looking to develop small buildings using new innovative techniques. Structurally Insulated Panels were a new product for the UK at that time however used elsewhere and were identified as a technology that could revolutionise the UK leisure building industry. Rather than buying pre-made panels Ian took the opportunity to research, develop and ultimately manufacture and was one of the first UK based companies to embrace this new technology. The outcome of this dedication was the ability to produce high quality buildings for use all year round and thus The Modular Group was founded.
Moving to larger premises in 2017 to meet the rising volume of orders and produce larger buildings the company has continued to go from strength to strength with high volume production, cutting edge design and fabrication processes and numerous clients throughout the UK and abroad.
